This workshop will focus on adaptive strategies that music teachers including students with special needs into their bands, general music courses or choirs. A variety of topics will be covered from adapting music through color coding or adapting instruments to incorporating peer mentors. Additionally, resources such as visuals, schedules, picture lyric sheets, apps, websites and other resources will be presented. Sensory adaptations to help special learners focus as well as how to educate other students will be discussed. Attendees will have the opportunity to work in breakout groups to brainstorm ideas and solutions for music classroom challenges.
